Summer Social Media Detox

Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed by social media? Between my work and personal life I have numerous Facebook pages and groups, two Instagram accounts, a LinkedIn profile and a twitter account. They all require constant tending and updating. But what is the point?

I have come to realise very few people are interested in my passionately held opinion on the topic of the day! My yoga Instagram account is mainly followed by fellow teachers, not potential students, so I can't claim it is doing much in terms of marketing. What I mostly see via my social media is yoga teachers offering courses to other teachers - for someone who lives in her head and suffers from imposter syndrome, I am an ideal potential customer! If I just knew more, maybe I would be a better teacher.......

For the sake of my mental health (for something intended to connect people, I find social media just makes me feel more lonely and less connected) and to free up some time, I have decided to take a summer holiday - from social media!

Think of what you could do with the time you spend scrolling through memes, videos, stories and reels - maybe a bit of breathwork? A short meditation? A little self-practice? All those things are the basis of yoga. If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed and in need of a break, join me on my summer holiday - a month away from social media and a bit of connecting with your inner life.

Enjoy your summer, however you chose to spend it - see you in September
